🚀 Lean Product Playbook Turns 10 — Still a North Star for PLG

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend a virtual meetup celebrating the 10-year anniversary of The Lean Product Playbook with Dan Olsen. It was energizing to hear him walk through the Product-Market Fit Pyramid and how it's just as relevant — if not more — in today’s AI-driven, PLG-first world.

As someone helping SaaS companies implement Product-Led Growth, this session was a powerful reminder that no growth tactic can compensate for a weak product strategy.

🎯 PLG success hinges on:

  • Identifying the right ICP and persona

  • Understanding the core use case that drives retention

  • Crafting a clear value prop and differentiation strategy

These are all core layers of the PMF Pyramid, and Dan’s suggestion to use the Kano Model for feature prioritization is still incredibly practical.

🧩 While PLG brings in new considerations like self-serve onboarding, user acquisition channels, and monetization paths — the core of the strategy still starts with user–problem–value alignment.

📊 And the Lean Playbook’s focus on key metrics gives a timeless blueprint to measure progress and iterate faster — something that’s absolutely essential in a PLG model.

Dan also shared how AI is shifting the product landscape, especially in research, prioritization, and automation — exciting times ahead!

🔁 Curious to hear from others:
How are you combining Lean thinking with PLG in your product strategy today?
